Time to break the rules

Its fascinating that in the few weeks since an upturn in the UK economy was announced, I have been inundated with fliers and emails about how to protect my business during an upturn.
Perhaps its time to take this message seriously, but I do struggle to get my head around it having spent endless hours trying to work out in the past 18 months or so how to protect my business during the downturn.
But perhaps its just time to say blow the rules, blow normal protocol and endless advice, now is the time to do things my way, to let go when it feels right to let go and to rein in when it feels right to rein in.
Yesterday I was thrilled to be on a plane where the last passenger to arrive was a hawk - proudly standing on its owner's gloved hand. It remained quiet and obedient for the entire flight, far quieter than all children and unlike most adults didn’t spent all the flight time fiddling with the 2.5 inch screen in front of it. I felt quite chuffed to see someone (i.e. its owner!!) so obviously breaking the rules! A little childish rebellion coming out in me…
Its actually quite liberating when just sometimes, you break the rules. You decide that you will do what you want and do it your way.
It may also be that after months and months of watching the pennies, knowing times are tight, staff also need to blow off a few cobwebs, be a bit rebellious and feel a bit of fresh air. So what are you going to do to ensure the pressure is vented rather than allowing the lid to blow off during what we have been promised will be a difficult (!!) ‘upturn’?
