One of the dispute resolution services offered by ACAS as an alternative to a tribunal hearing. Both parties need to agree and formally enter into an arbitration agreement and then an ACAS arbitrator is appointed to find a resolution. Their decision is just as binding as a tribunal's one would be, but unlike a tribunal this offers a relatively quick and cost-effective method of dispute resolution. For some reason, this option is only available in situations where an employee feels they may have been unfairly dismissed, or for disputes involving flexible working requests.
