When relocating, organisations need to remember the importance of consulting and communicating with employees and with their representatives. The most difficult part of relocating is often persuading key employees to relocate, so relocation packages are often used to help overcome employees' fears, and mitigate the cost of the relocation. It should be remembered that additional costs are likely to be incurred through redundancy or early retirement of those employees who are either not selected for relocation or not offered a suitable alternative job.
