Agency workers

top-tipsThis week’s Top Tips look at what action you might like to consider ahead of the implementation of The Agency Workers Regulations on the 1st October 2011.

  • Calculate how many agency workers you currently use and how long they have been on an assignment. How many of your agency workers will meet the 12-week qualifying period?
  • Look at where you most commonly use agency workers in the workforce, are they just used for seasonal peaks or perhaps staff absences?
  • Think about how you will communicate these new rights for agency workers to your managers.
  • Consider giving your middle management training on the implications of the legislation.
  • Review your relationship with current agencies that you use, how will the agency worker’s new rights be communicated?
  • Think about how you will make job vacancies available to agency workers if you don’t already.
  • Establish how you will keep informed of any changes to terms and conditions and pay rates that may affect Agency Workers.
  • Consider how you will prevent your managers messing up when overseeing agency worker’s assignments!

If you are in need of support and commercial advice about how The Agency Worker’s Regulations will impact your business, please do give us a call to speak to one of our highly experienced HR Consultants who’d be delighted to help.
