With a background in business services and customer experience, Andrew founded AstonCovert in 2010 to provide clients with a discreet and professional information gathering service. AstonCovert support employers and HR teams with pre employment checks, undercover surveillance (hence the profile picture!) and investigating fraud... they can also provide a mystery shopper service.

AstonCovert are Corporate and Private Investigators based in Reading, who provide research and investigations for employment solicitors, HR departments and business owners. This work falls broadly into two key areas:
Background checks and pre-employment screening
It is increasingly difficult for employers to gain references from past employers for new candidates... AstonCovert can help with:
- Taking this task from you and spending the time necessary to verify as much as possible on the candidates CV. A thorough background check will often throw up some new information which the candidate themselves had not admitted to.
- Visa and CRB checks.
- Performing in-depth background checks for a client who suspects that a current employee is misbehaving.
This often highlights that the employee has a history of similar behaviour. It may also inform the employer that the employee made false claims on their original application.
Surveillance evidence
Surveillance footage can be vital when investigating a variety of employee issues, including:
- When employees claim to be on sickness absence but you or your team have reasons to suspect that they are taking the proverbial
- For external office staff and remote workers who are playing golf (for example) on company time
- Fraud or theft cases
- When an employee has set up a rival business to their employer
Employers cannot afford to ignore such behaviours, especially when other employees start to copy these actions.
As an example, AstonCovert recently gained surveillance footage of an employee riding the rollercoasters at Legoland when he had taken the day off sick claiming he had a gastric ulcer.
